HARP is Southend-on-Sea’s leading homelessness charity. On average we help around 1,000 local people every year to overcome or avoid homelessness. In addition to providing essential short-term emergency shelter, food, clothing and washing facilities, we work to identify the root causes of homelessness, creating tailored support for each person’s circumstances. We achieve success by providing structure, purpose and training opportunities, and by providing longer-term supported housing, empowering people to take steps to leave homelessness behind and ultimately live independently in the community.
As a charitable registered provider of short-term social housing operating in Southend-on-Sea, we believe everyone should have a home of their own. At times individuals may require support from HARP and other agencies to maintain a tenancy and avoid a return to homelessness.
We currently manage over 250 bed spaces in our emergency and short-term accommodation, employ over 100 full and part time staff, and supported by a number of volunteers.
Our Navigator Team provides intensive ‘End to End’ support for people who are rough sleeping with complex needs, advocating and enabling them to access appropriate services, including housing by working in partnership with existing delivery structures, and local networks.
·The role is multi-faceted and rewarding; one day out on outreach and the next continuing to work with clients on their action plans and journey away from the street to providing support to other clients living in the community in a home of their own.
To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate:
Extensive understanding of Dual Diagnosis and associated approaches to support individuals.
Organised, adaptable, and an excellent communicator with an ability to collate and share information.
A creative and pro active approach.
High levels of Resilience.
Experience of producing high quality and holistic support planning and risk management using a strengths-based approach.

HARP will provide you with support and training to carry out your role effectively, and to develop your career. Our benefits package includes 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays with an extra day of leave awarded after 5 years' service (all pro rata for part time employees).
HARP participate in an auto-enrolment pension scheme through The People’s Pension. Where eligible, you and HARP will each be required to make a contribution to the pension scheme.
Employees will also become members of the non-contributory HARP Death In Service scheme.
