HARP (Homeless Action Resource Project) is an exciting and innovative organisation for people affected by homelessness that provides accommodation, advice and support tailored to the specific needs of people in the Southend-on-Sea area to enable them to live independently within the community.

 

We are looking for experienced and passionate people to join our relief worker bank to cover recruitment, weekends, sickness, maternity and other absences in a range of supported housing projects in the Southend and Westcliff area.

 

All relief workers placed in a housing support worker capacity will work as part of a team, cover core key working duties and will need to have a good understanding of the issues involved in delivering effective support services to a range of people who are homeless, at risk or vulnerable.

 

Relief workers are casual workers who are called on as and when required and will need to be able to work flexibly and be willing to work shifts.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Ability to manage difficult situations, and deal with them calmly, efficiently and effectively

  • Empathy and understanding for people affected by homelessness, especially those who have complex needs.

  • The skills to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team, with the availability to work unsociable hours, including evenings, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays
